what are we doing to help the the polar bears form getting extinction?
I don’t believe anything at all is being done. And even if there was a will to do something, we’d be at a loss to know what could be done that would work.
Survival of the fittest. If they can’t adapt.. they don’t deserve to continue. That’s the way nature works. But FYI they’re managing just fine, once again the “chicken little” enviro-nuts are picking are picking single area for use in their “proof of doom” The bears are doing just fine as a whole.
Male polar bears eat all the baby polar bears they can find which decimates the polar bear population! This appears to be part of their natural behavior. I don’t think we can change their natural behavior and make them stop this cannibalism!
The group Environmental Defense–of which I am a member as well as other animal protection coalitions/groups have an online petition campaign of email for the U.S. senators/other government leaders of the group who handle wilderness legislation. It is being voted and planned right now how to proceed with regulating Alaskan drilling and keeping the polar ice caps from melting too much and leaving the polar bears w/out ice floes which they use as jumping/standing platforms for finding food.
almost everyone likes polar bears and physically, we are doing nothing to save them. Polar Bears are drowning.
Very good Essay! I enjoyed reading it, but it can use polishing. To make your essay tighter, you can insert transitional words. The grammar and mechanics are used correctly and you are a very good writer. Transitional Words/Phrases: Retrospectively, It is of great interest to note, All in all, On the other hand, Research shows, and To Summarize.
great essay! i thought it was very interesting, i am all for the going green, it makes me sad how a lot of the rain forests are gone now
what are the effects of polar bear extinction? what are the short term and long term effects of polar bear extinction? how will it effect the world economically, socially, politically, and culturally? what will happen to other animals?
This is a hard question
…This is truly a difficult question. The short term impacts and economical impacts is probably towards the Zoos. For enviromental effect it will damage the Food web in the artic very severely, depending on the importance of the species it will have a huge or small scale of impact in terms of enviroment.Socially…well the only thing I can think of is Animals Activist raging against the Government for doing nothing to save the Polar Bears.Culturally and Politically…this is unlikely to be honest….back to the food web topic. If the food web is damaged,it is likely that other animals will go extinct along with the Polar Bears and the animals Polar Bears hunt(Seals and fish) will over-populate and cause a negative impact on the enviroment.
Well polar bears are really cute, the media & environmentalists just use the polar bear as an example of what can occur because of your climate change, but many different animals, plants, etc, would be affected greatly by a climate change. They just choose one specific animal, so the public can digest it easier. If the polar bears were to become extinct, whatever they are predators do would overpopulate, there would still be other kinds of bears, just not the polar bears. But climate change as a whole would completely change the world. People would have to be evacuated from places where they are unable to live because of extreme temperatures, and little island nations would be completely wiped off the map.
I can’t tell from this. It’s just a rant. I don’t think you’re in the right mindset yet.
Haha, I was laughing all the way through that. I don’t know why you think your writing sucks, because it seems pretty good to me, but I get the same feeling when writing too, you’ve just gotta push past it, and the good thing about writing is that you can always edit out the parts that you hate after you’ve finished the novel. good luck, Mimsie.
maybe you have a chance but it’s kind of a downer like, reading this was a bit depressing and annoying because you just go from complaining about one thing to another, and the story isn’t going anywhere…try writing about more pleasant or interesting things, not just venting about strangers
The extinction of polar bears natural? When you think about it animals becoming extinct has been going on since the beginning of the world. I don’t think it would necessarily be a bad thing.People did not become emotionally involved when dinosaurs died out. Why would it be any different with a polar bear other than it is cute. Isn’t this just another gradual natural process of evolution like the dinosaurs? Ok, I can see alot of people are emotional about this. I am not hoping the polar bears become extinct. The opposite, I think they are beautiful creatures and would be sadly missed in our life time but I think it is eventually going to happen. I don’t know that I believe the population is up 300%.
People weren’t around when the dinosaurs died out. If polar bears became extinct due to natural processes, that would be one thing. However, if they became extinct because of human activity, that would be an entirely different matter. We need to be better stewards of our planet and the life upon it. Biodiversity is a great advantage of our Earth! If you are not concerned about the polar bear becoming extinct, will you be concerned about the next life form to become extinct? Where do you draw the line? Will it finally be when humans are on the endangered list?
Species don’t just die out. There is always a reason for it and it’s always because some natural balance was thrown out of whack.
NO, THE POLAR BEARS ARE NEARING EXTINCTION DUE TO THE ENCROACHMENT OF MANKIND ON THEIR NATURAL HABITAT AND THE LOSS OF HABITAT DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING RESULTING FROM THE BURNING OF FOSSIL FUELS AND WOOD.
The present population is up 300%.
fyi… there are more polar bears in the world than black bears. Oh btw jeff s have you never heard of the northwest passage? why was it called that?
polar bear reproduction is up and global warming is proved to be natural. It cools and heats back again. Look at another side besides the “discussion is over” attitudes like that are so rude and frankly it makes you sound like an idiot. Keep searching and dont deny info until you know if it is true or false. Keep a level head….but people who say the discussion is over are unreasonable because they wont listen to another side. the discussion is not over and it never should be unless its certain.
No. For two reasons: 1) Polar bears aren’t going extinct. 2) Climate change is not man made.
$13? Really? I’ll give him a 20 and he can keep the change.
$13? Really? I’ll give him a 20 and he can keep the change.
They aren’t becoming extinct. They are forming a large clan in a hidden cave to sneak up on Sarah Palin when she steps out of her slaughter-copter after her thrilling day of chasing wolves and doing her “shooting fish in a barrel tactic” and at this point they will chomp into her like a pack of rabid wolves, effectively converting her into bear crap and ending the question as to whether or not she will run for president.
$13? So we are going to find a solution involving a bar of chocolate, 3 bags of chips and some gum to fill up the gap? Quickly! Someone find McGyver.
